As Chairman of The Recruitment Network, James works with recruitment business leaders, helping them to achieve significant growth, performance improvement and competitive advantages acting as a Non-Executive Director, consultant, trainer and strategist for numerous fast growth recruitment businesses.

Gordon Stoddart


Gordon is a business coach, speaker and trainer with a proven track record in business, team and individual transformation. Over 15 years, Gordon has helped businesses within the recruitment sector and beyond to achieve their potential, enjoy profitable growth and outperform the market through a focus on customer experience and leadership. Gordon spent 10 years transforming his family business from a regional player into the UK’s largest privately owned food distribution business, turning over £200m and employing over 1,200 people prior to a successful trade sale.

Graham Palfery-Smith

Graham Palfery-Smith has been involved in the recruitment industry for over 35 years. He is an accomplished and highly experienced strategic senior manager who has run a wide range of specialist recruitment businesses internationally, including HW Group, Robert Walters, Faro and FiveTen Group. A highly effective communicator and a team creator, Graham brings an energetic, enthusiastic and passionate approach, international contacts and an excellent market intelligence network.

Tony Goodwin

Board Member

Tony Goodwin is the Group CEO & Chairman of Antal International, a global management and executive recruitment company and one of the fastest growing business service organisations in emerging markets such as China, Eastern Europe and India. Antal now has more than 120 offices in over 30 countries around the world and celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2013. Tony has won numerous awards including Entrepreneur of the Year 2014 at the London Loves Excellence Awards and Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2011.

Simon Church

Board Member

With more than twenty years of main board experience in the Telecoms and Networking, IT and Recruitment markets, Simon is a focused sales and business leader who believes that the true measure of success in any enterprise is establishing mutually beneficial inter-dependent relationships with customers and suppliers. In his time Simon has initiated, planned and implemented organisational change, re-skilling and re-focusing sales and business development initiatives in three LSE listed staffing companies.

Kate Oliver

Operations Director

Kate began her career working for a large innovation company, providing extensive management and support to the lead inventors. She worked across a number of sectors ranging from hospitality to FMCG and on a variety of projects developing new brands, products and business models. Since joining Innergy in 2010 she continues to utilise her project management skills and is now responsible for the running of the company’s operations.

Gary King

Board Member

Gary is the Commercial Director of The Global Recruiter, the world’s largest recruitment specific magazine, focusing on editorial for those involved in supplying staffing solutions both globally and within their regions. The Global recruiter is distributed to UK and Ireland, Northern Europe, Asia Pacific, Australia, Middle East, North and South America and China and was the first publisher in the staffing industry to deliver a multimedia platform across all mobile devices as an app.

Toni Cocozza

Strategic Advisor

Toni is an inspiring and widely respected recruitment leader. She has been recognised with multiple business and recruitment awards including E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year and Outstanding Contribution to the Recruitment Industry. Founder of IT and managed service specialist DP Connect, Toni ran the company for 27 years until a recent MBO in 2017. A role model for women in business, Toni has instigated campaigns to attract and retain women in IT and to promote IT careers to schools and universities.

Richard Farmer

Regional Chairman - Singapore

Richard is the TRN Associate based in Singapore. With over 18 years in the industry and having worked around the world, Richard is a highly experienced trainer, coach, facilitator & entrepreneur who’s passionate about the recruitment industry and its people. Richard has experience building and leading multiple high performing recruitment businesses and teams, bringing that knowledge with him to the TRN Associate programme.

Marc Cohen

Executive VP of North America

Marc Cohen is an industry leader with over 20 years experience in managing, building and exiting recruitment businesses. Most recently sold ConSol Partners, an award winning technology staffing company he co-founded and led to over $180m in sales with placements in over 40 countries. Having formerly resided in and led operations in the UK, Europe, Australia and USA, Marc develops a global approach to ideas from his base in Los Angeles, California with a focus on advanced recruiting solutions. Marc brings energy and true market knowledge with a passion for learning, strategy, innovation and ability to look at the details behind a business.

Natalie Brenchley

Member Support Manager

Natalie is the Member Support Manager for The Recruitment Network. She is responsible for supporting all members across the network and assisting with the running of the company’s operations. Before joining Natalie worked for the NHS helping to run the Out of Hours doctors service, providing extensive organisation in their rostering and day to day management of the company’s operations. Natalie enjoys spending her free time doing yoga and catching up with her friends and family.

Heidi Robus-Toner

Operations Executive

Heidi is responsible for supporting the running of the company’s finance operations and implementing the TRN Partnership programme.

Heidi is a highly-organised, people person and has spent the last 12 years working in a variety of industries, both agency and client-side before joining The Recruitment Network. Heidi enjoys spending her free time running and cycling when she is not having days out with her two children.

Ed Smith

Sales Manager

Ed is responsible for attracting and consulting with new members, he has an extensive recruitment background having spent the 12 years in the industry. He is passionate about helping new members get involved and helping them reach their business goals. Ed loves sports and spends his free time swimming and running.

Emma Reeves

Operations Executive

Emma is Operations Executive for The Recruitment Network and is responsible for supporting TRN’s operations and the development of TRN World and its content. Emma has previously worked in software support, customer experience and product development so always takes a customer centric approach when developing TRN World strategies. Emma enjoys spending her free time taking long walks in the countryside, preferably with a friend/family member’s dog alongside her (until she gets her own).

Will Colthup

Marketing Manager

Will heads up the marketing team at TRN, utilising his varied marketing background to produce some top quality content for the website, social media and TRN World.

His enthusiasm comes from his overarching aim to influence the market and create sales opportunities for the network as well as create a solid and positive brand.

Outside of work Will is a keen gym goer and also the Quarter back for the East Kent Mavericks American football team.

Annabel Dixey

Member Support

Annie is part of the TRN that is responsible for supporting all members across the network.

Before joining us at TRN, Annie had worked in the Media industry with her last role working for a large publisher in London within their sales team. She was responsible for looking after her agency accounts and selling advertising space across print and digital.

Annie enjoys spending her free time finding cool pubs with her friends, going to the beach and obsessing over new makeup!

Lara Jackson

Operations Executive

Lara is the newest recruit at TRN. She provides vital support to the operations and marketing function, applying her skills both organisational and creative.

By trade she is a highly motivated and dynamic brand manager with a particular passion for foodie brands, enjoying bringing creative visions to life.

Annabel Cole


Annabel is a employment law specialist and has over 20 years experience providing strategic, pragmatic and commercially focused advice. She acts for businesses, senior executives and individuals providing advice at critical times when there may be a need to restructure a company, achieve change management or deal with employee management issues.

She is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.

Paul Glynn

Strategic Advisor

Paul is the Owner & Director of 3 businesses: Aristar Consulting provides accounting & finance support to recruitment companies that have no internal finance function. Aspiring FDs helps accelerate the route to being an effective recruitment FD for people running a finance team in an SME recruitment business. Recruitment FDs is the network for heads of finance in recruitment & staffing; providing members with regular events, a partner directory and the most relevant quarterly bench-marking report in the industry.

Jonathan Wright

Strategic Advisor

Jonathan is a Chairman and non-executive director to a portfolio of growth businesses in the Recruitment & Human Capital industry as well as a speaker on growth management. Drawing on 30 years of experience in the sector clients engage Jonathan to help them drive growth and to achieve an exit event or to raise development capital; he now has over 30 successful transactions under his belt. His transactions have realised over £350m for shareholders.

Lucy Tarrant


Lucy is the Managing Director of Cognitive Law Limited, and a practising solicitor. She has over 24 years of financial and contractual dispute resolution, 20 of those years as a qualified Solicitor.
As well as running the business on a day to day basis, Lucy specialises in providing commercial legal services to the recruitment sector. She assists recruitment companies in maximising their business potential and their position in the market place. 

Neil Carberry

Industry Leader

Neil is CEO at the REC, the leading membership organisation for recruitment/staffing firms and individual recruiters. Neil is a member of the council of the conciliation service ACAS and of the Low Pay Commission, which makes recommendations about the level of the National Minimum Wage. He is also the chair of a small academy trust.

Rhonda D'Ambrosio


Rhonda is the founder of Mida Consultancy, creator of Titanic Thinking and accredited performance coach. Rhonda is the Mindset and Mental Health (MMH) recruitment industry champion, renowned for her work helping owners, leaders and managers embrace and develop an authentic approach to mindset within their organisations.

She has co-developed the TRN Recruiter Resilience programme to support and celebrate mental, emotional and physical wellbeing in the recruitment sector.

Amanda Wildman


Amanda is an expert in leadership development, executive coaching, emotional intelligence, employee engagement, wellbeing and strategic learning solutions. Offering strategic insight into talent solutions.

She is Director of Emotionally-i-Fit that designs and delivers assessments, coaching programmes, workshops and integrated leadership retreats focusing on the 16 dimensions of Emotional Intelligence.

Bobby Banerjee


Bobby is a learning and development specialist, with a plethora of experience within a specialist technical recruitment and sales background, imparting ethical, customer-focused recruitment skills.

The measures of success that he specialises at impacting include:

  • Number of placements per head in a consultant’s first year;

Giving Back

At The Recruitment Network we pride ourselves on giving back to the world of recruitment and beyond.

We regularly run charity events to raise money and awareness to some of the most deserving charities. We also aim to raise awareness of diversity in recruitment through frequently held events and webinars on the area, connecting business leaders with experts on the topic.


We wanted to do more than just talk about charity – we wanted to create a movement where we bring together our employees, are customers and our peers and immerse ourselves in a whole host of activities (whether big and small) that when added together enable us to achieve our overarching mission.

The concept is simple, to use the power of our networks and work collaboratively to make a significant impact to the various charitable causes we support.  Every year, we select a handful of charities that someone within our network has a very significant attachment to, and we set ourselves a fundraising target to achieve.

Our mission is to then share the monies we raise amongst our chosen charities and make a difference to their causes.

Women in Recruitment

Our free mentoring programme is designed to encourage and develop women in recruitment, giving them the boost they need to grow and excel in the industry. Connecting women in recruitment with a suitable Mentor for them to look up to and learn from as they progress through the programme.

We recently partnered up with APSCo and their Women in Recruitment programme to combine forces and make an even bigger difference to women in the industry. Women in Recruitment is an APSCo (Association of Professional Staffing Companies) initiative, supported by the REC and other stakeholders across the recruitment sector and sponsored by Barclays plc and Squire Patton Boggs.

Our aim is to facilitate the mentoring of females in the Recruitment Industry. Exercising the potential of women in recruitment to build their confidence and develop their skills through consistent support, guidance and practical help, that will help them to progress in business and in their careers which is why we have teamed up with Women in Recruitment to develop this relaunched mentoring programme.
